The goal is to design a book cover and inside layoth based on the artist’s style. This project is book for Faith Ringgold artist who is an artist, sculptor, feminist and politician. The aim for this is project epitomizes simplicity and modernity by offering a playful yet sophisticated design aesthetic with the artist expectation.
The artist is famous for his way of exploring art techniques like a cubism direction by making abstract compositions with various methods. She is also known not only as an artist, but an activist, and an educator who has influenced both the art world and communities beyond the art world. After admiring her artwork, I pondered the type of book I’d like to purchase, hoping to encapsulate a piece of her perspective, which the book offers. Delving into her background, the idea of featuring her artwork on the book cover intrigued me, symbolizing her unique insight into the world’s happenings.
The design concept is quit simple. I used my personal favorite piece of her artwork where you see the face which represent me a an idea of that “we are all human” and we don’t need to saparted people on black and white. The spreads layout is just as simplistic to showcase the value of her artwork. The font of the titles/sub-titles is static which a sense of authority, seriousness, and readability. The design looks straight to the point and uses a very limited color palette.
